Join Our Crew
TLC is interested in growing our collective, and we welcome potential new collective members who are willing and interested to move through a relationship-building process with us and who are committed to our practices and values. TLC is a small mutual aid collective rooted in anarchist organizing principles. We meet once every week and share all collective responsibilities like facilitation and note-taking, outreach, relationship-building and -holding, finances, project management, etc.
TLC is what is often referred to as a “closed” collective. We understand that in liberatory organizing practices based in radical left traditions, there are many ways to organize ourselves. We are in relationship with and have respect for alternative ways that organizers are coming together, including more open spaces that can be moved in and out of less formally. We find that in the work we’re choosing to do in this time, it suits us best to be discerning about possible new collective members.
PROCESS for Joining
TL;DR: contact us at tclogistics@riseup.net or find us at an event, and one of us will reach out to set up an initial meetup within a week or two.
Initial point of contact
Once we know of your interest and how to get in touch, we’ll offer you some times for an informal one-on-one or group hang (whatever you’re most comfortable with).
Hangout
We will have some questions for you of course, as we presume you will for us. The main things we’ll like to learn about are your interests, your ideological journey, your current and longer term capacity, and your other ongoing movement involvement if any. This isn’t a job interview or a “vetting” process! Just a friendly way of making sure our commitments align, and getting to know one another better.
Internal Debrief
Full transparency: we’ll reflect on and discuss our meetup as a group, and decide via consensus process on next steps.
“Test Run” Meeting
Note on COVID care: we meet outdoors whenever possible, and always mask and distance in well-ventilated spaces for indoor meetings. Jitsi meetings are a last resort option.
Our weekly meetings are currently Mondays from 6-7:30pm in south Minneapolis. If the full group consents, we’ll welcome you to come get a look into who we are and how our collective operates.
“Final Sign-off”
One more consensus process at our next meeting to formalize your addition to the crew, and it’s off to the races ❤️🔥
We emphasize healthy active communication and deep relationship - so we’ll keep you updated on everything within and around this process as we undertake it together. Never hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns!
